The title of this book makes its content clear: it offers a comprehensive history of Anzánigo and Izarbe. The work synthesizes archival records with the personal experience and memories of the author and his ancestors to render a substantive historical record. The book begins with the first inhabitants of the area, the construction of the Roman roads through the Pyrenean lands, the adventures of the medieval Aragonese kings and nobles, and the journals of travelers. The author then relates in detail the history of the last two centuries by chronicling the festivals, the religious traditions, the trades, the river, the bridges, the railroad, and the schools of Anzánigo and Izarbe. Drawing from primary and secondary sources as well as from living memory, the author gives an engaging tale of these two towns in the Pyrenees by the big bend of the river Gállego.
